CCSIs’ Mandates

The CCSI de l'Ouest and CCSI de l'Est are mandated by the ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur to provide services for the reception, integration and inclusion of students with disabilities. (SWDs).

Specifically, the CCSIs are mandated to :

  • Support and accompany college network institutions in the reception, organization and delivery of services intended for SWDs, in order to promote the integration, retention and academic success of this student population;

  • Promote the development, networking and sharing of expertise in order to strengthen the autonomy of institutions in the college network in the development of their local organization of services for SWDs;

  • Support the public and private college networks in the annual production of available statistics on the number of SWDs, type of disability, and the services offered to SWDs attending the public and private college networks;

  • Manage the mobile fleet of specialized equipment;

  • Coordinate specialized services for deaf and hard of hearing students (interpreting service, live closed captioning service, dedicated group classes);
  • Support network institutions and the Ministry in processing requests for physical and educational support (volet 3) from subsidized private colleges and physical assistance requests from all colleges;

  • Respond to requests for adaptations in alternative formats for students with perceptual disabilities (e.g., offline closed captioning, audio books) or visually impaired (e.g., braille, music braille, e-text);
  • Participate in various consultation tables and instances on the subject of SWDs;

  • Respond to requests from the Ministry to participate in projects it implements to promote the accessibility, integration and college success of SWDs;

  • Participate in any other mandate prioritized by the Minister or recommended by the Orientation Committee.
